Waiting list
Although we feel proud of having built five houses already,
since Amathuba was started in 2006, the need for secure, weather-proof
housing is ongoing, as more people in Embo fall below the poverty
line.
The applications keep coming, and it's heartbreaking to turn
away people in true and desperate need, simply because we don't
have sufficient funds. As you read these stories, please search
your heart to see if there is some way you can get involved.

I live at
Embo (ward 8) I am 24 yrs old. I
am staying in someone else's house at the moment and I pay rent. I don't have
my own house. I have no resources to build my own house.
I want my children to go to school but I cannot afford
it. My parents passed away that forced me to leave school.
I went to look for work. My eldest sister left a child
by me. People are telling my sister to come back home but
she refuses to come back so I have to take care of her child
as well.I need help please. I will
be happy if you can help me and make life a little easy for me. Thank you.

I
am sorry
to write this letter. I have a problem. I
am on my own. I have children that are still in school and
one that is 19 yrs old. She cannot walk. The house I live
in has planks. This house is now dangerous to my family.
We need your help. I can pay a little bit if you can help
me. I want to get out of this plank house. Thank you.

I am writing
with a request for shelter. We grew up supported by our
Father and mother who are both deceased now. My
Father had a temporary job and did not earn alot of money. This
year
my father passed away on 12 January and left us in the old house.
I was trying to build it but have no
financial resources to build it. We
only have one member of the family that has a temporary job and does
not earn alot of money to support the family
I would appreciate it if you can consider
my request please.

Nimrod Khoza I'm writing
with a request for shelter. I am a crippled person, I was
born
like this.
I am married and have
5 children who are in lower grades. Most of my money goes towards
school fees. I get some support from government grant but it is not enough.
My wife is not working. I want to get a place that my children can call home.
My children are still young.
Amongst all of them one is also
crippled and is in grade 2 which makes it more difficult because she cannot
walk long distance to school.
I am pleading to help me. My wish is that I can have a place that is
close so that I can transport my children to school.

We would
like you to assist us with the completion of our home. I am
a sick pensioner and undergoing treatment at Pinetown Clinic.
As a result I cannot work and also stay
with my mother who is 90 years old, who is also a pensioner.
We started building our home last year in March, it should be finsihed my now
but due
to financial problems as pensioners we are unable to complete our dream
house. The one that we are staying in can fall down anytime
We would like you to assist us if possible with the roof, window frames, plumbing,
as well as
plastering.
We hope that our application will be taken into consideration
