How to help
Because Amathuba is a small grassroots organisation, every
offer of help is hugely appreciated – from financial
donations and gifts in kind of building materials and other
resources, to volunteering to build alongside community members
or train them in building, plumbing and other skills.
We also appreciate help with fundraising, marketing
and admin tasks – in fact, in any area where you feel you
can make a positive difference!
Gifts in kind
Almost anything that can be used for building will be welcomed
with open arms – including second-hand bricks, door and
window frames, sanitaryware and kitchen cupboards. Donations
of cement and roof sheeting or tiles are particularly
important.
If you have left-over materials from your own building
project that you are prepared to donate, please contact
Zuma on 083 595 1424 to arrange collection.
Volunteer
If you have skills in building, plumbing, carpentry, gardening,
etc., why not spend a few hours a week helping disadvantaged
township people learn, working alongside them to create
real opportunities.
Fundraising is another area where help is badly needed.
Speak to us about taking a group on a township tour, meet
some of the people in need, and get together with friends
or business contacts to raise money for a particular project.
Being this close to the project gives you a real sense
of achievement!
Employ Suzy's Crew
If you need odd jobs done around the house – carpentry,
bricklaying, painting, etc – why not let Suzy's
Crew quote on the job? We have
the skills and the enthusiasm to keep your home in tip-top
condition! Email
us or tel. Zuma 083 595 1424.
Advertise or sponsor our website
Supporters in the coporate sector can get extra mileage
out of contributions to Amathuba; not only will your
donation earn you points on the Broad-Based Black Economic
Empowerment Scorecard, you also get additional publicity
and goodwill for your company by displaying your logo
on this website.
Remember Amathuba in your Will
By including those nearest and dearest to you in your Will,
you ensure that your loving concern lives on far beyond
your lifetime. But your Will is also a way to leave a legacy
for a better world; a world in which the poor and underprivileged
are assured of basic shelter from the weather.
A bequest to Amathuba costs you nothing right now. Only
when you no longer have need of it is your money put to
work to give someone else the opportunity of a better life.
Especially if your own children are grown up and
successful in their own right, it can be extremely satisfying
to extend your generosity to other children growing up
in appalling conditions in leaky shacks or tiny mud huts.
If you are considering such a gesture, please let us know.
We'd appreciate the opportunity to thank
you for your thoughtfulness, as well as planning together
how your gift could best be used. |
